PrintWow! Check out the snow in the background! My family and I went to JCPenny Outlet first and then we went to Bottom Dollar Food so I could use the $10/$40 coupon.
I got so much food for only $47.09! Just a little bit over my goal for the week. However, I did spurge this week and bought some lunch at work and took my dear Mom out to lunch. The nice thing about going out to lunch is I was able to get 3 meals out of it because I tried to doggie bag it for later.
Of course not everything is in picture because I had to make my daughter lunch so I put all of the frozen veggies, cubed meat, milk and cheeses away, so try and imagine all of that on the table too. Note that we had some of the juice for lunch.
My plan here was to get basic groceries as well as some stock pile items such as sugar, ketchup, dried beans and baked beans. I got a lot of fruit since it was at a pretty good price and I will using it for a fruit salad tomorrow at a brunch we are attending.

PrintBottom Dollar Food posts aren’t popular posts on my blog, and I’m ok with that. There aren’t that many stores and there are a lot of other great stores in the area to shop at. I’m currently experimenting on how to display the weekly deals. Today, I discovered that I can use the print preview option from the Bottom Dollar Food website. It unfortunately doesn’t include the information about special buy vs. everyday price so I’m debating if this is a good view or not, it sure makes it easier to post! Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

I went to Bottom Dollar and got a couple things. I’ve only been a couple of times.
I decided to get the 2010 Calendar for $8.98! Thanks to Laura from Frugal Friends for getting additional info about it. That is the reason I decided to buy it.
Here are the details on the coupons:
$10.00 Gift Card Coupon for a $40 purchase. 1 per customer. 1 per month. See dates on the coupons. Membership card required where applicable. Membership is FREE.
Limit one coupon per purchase of specified product(s); no other coupon maybe used with this coupon. Void if copied, sold, exchanged, or transferred. Good only at Bottom Dollar Food Stores. Cash value $.001. Alcohol and tobacco products excluded.
My concern is “no other coupon maybe used with this coupon” jumped at me immediately! Maybe someone can ask if they have time to find out if manufacture coupons apply to this statement. Here is Bottom Dollar’s Coupon Policy. Thanks to Laura from FrugalFriends for tracking it down!
Update: Thanks to Laura from FrugalFriends for calling 3 stores in the area and getting some answers! See her comment below. Here is part of her comment:
I asked if the $40 minimum purchase amount was the total BEFORE or AFTER Manufacturer Coupons. One store thought you would have to have at least $40 total AFTER manufacturer coupons; the other 2 stores I spoke with thought you could use the $40 total BEFORE Coupons as long as you did the following: Buy at least $40 worth of products, then scan your $10/$40 store coupon FIRST, and lastly scan all your manufacturer coupons. The latter scenario would be great and give you more mileage for your money!
However, if that is the case, I’m not that concerned in fact, this is a bargain because you can easily use this coupon to stock up on basic essentials for only $30! For example the eggs are $.87 a dozen, milk I believe was under $3 a gallon, and they had some good prices on frozen foods as well. I noticed that Bottom Dollar does have a markup on household and toiletry items so be aware that you will spend more on those items. I noticed that a jumbo pack of diapers are $10.99! If I remember correctly, that is more expensive then CVS at regular price. So, if manufacture coupons don’t apply, remember you can still use these on sale items and essentials!
A question I have is what if someone bought more than one calendar? I have no idea if the coupon is associated with the Bottom Dollar Food card or not similar to CVS cards are. Just a thought!
To me this is a great marketing strategy for Bottom Dollar Food because it guarantees that I will go to the store at least once a month for a year. If I don’t they may make money off me buying the cute pig calendar!
The receipt for Bottom Dollar is a little different then other stores. It shows the regular price and then deducts the discount. Note only items that are “red” in the ad need the card to get the discount. It is a very strange system.
